About This Website
Bushfire Housing has been set up by Sputnik Agency to help the thousands of people who have been made homeless by the Victorian and New South Wales bushfires. It is a central place where people who are in need of shelter can make contact with people who are able to offer temporary accommodation.
This website was inspired by a similar concept used during the Hurricane Katrina disaster in the New Orleans. There, it achieved great success and helped thousands of people find shelter in their darkest hours. We hope Bushfire Housing can do the same here.

Sputnik Agency is an online marketing agency in Melbourne that specialises in the design and construction of websites.
Like so many people around the world, we have been touched by the devastating effects of the 2009 bushfires that have swept through Victoria and New South Wales and wanted to use the skills we have to provide an online resource for connecting those in need with those who are able to help.
After the tragedy of the bushfires, our staff were eager to help in any way they could.
How you can help
If you or anyone you know has the ability to offer a room, a holiday house or any form of emergency shelter, please register. Your generosity will directly help the victims of the worst natural disaster in Australia's recorded history.

The Australian Red Cross are accepting donations through Victorian Bushfire Appeal 2009. You can donate by calling 1800 811 700 or online at the Australian Red Cross website.
Blood donors are always required. You can arrange to give blood by calling the Australian Red Cross blood service on 13 14 95.
